Good As It Gaits Farm

Tennessee Walking Horses in the Texas Hill Country

Darrah's Ivory Chance

Chance, a cremello stallion owned by Elsie Darrah of Last Chance Farm, stands at our farm. He  displays the characteristics most desired in a Tennessee Walking Horse, a great disposition and beautiful loose running walk, with the bonus of color.

Chance was tested by the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory at U. C. Davis to verify that he is a cremello and that he has one agouti gene (Aa) which restricts black to the points. His color genetics will produce the following results:
Black mares - he can sire both buckskins and palominos
Bay mares - he can sire mostly buckskins and a few palominos
    Chestnut / sorrel mares - 100% palominos
Palomino mares - 50-50 palomino or cremello
Buckskin mares - buckskin, palomino, perlino or cremello
    Cremello mares - 100% cremellos

You can refer to TWHBEAs color brochure for more information on color genetics. A "color calculator" that will determine the likelihood of getting a colored foal from your mare is also available at http://www.animalgenetics.us/CCalculator1.asp

Another plus is that Chance has the blood type that makes him compatible with any mare he is bred to regardless of her blood type. Because of this he will never sire a foal with Neonatal isoerythrolysis (NI) which is an immunogenic disease that affects foals at birth. For additional information on NI click here.

Stud fee $450. Shipped semen available.
Mare care $8 per day, $12 with a foal by her side.
